Amazon Fulfillment Options

Amazon Fulfilled by Merchant (FBM)

Amazon Fulfilled by Merchant (FBM) is when the merchant directly completes the e-commerce fulfillment process. Self-fulfillment is very time-consuming, especially as volume increases, but requires little to no upfront investment. Alternatively, sellers often opt for third-party fulfillment (3PL) in combination with FBM. 3PL is when a logistics provider, like byrd, carries out the whole fulfillment process (picking, packing, storing and shipping) on behalf of the merchant who is selling items on Amazon.

Seller Fulfilled Prime (SFP)

Seller Fulfilled Prime (SFP) is a fulfillment program offered through Amazon that allows online merchants to ship Prime orders directly to customers. Retailers fulfill the orders from their own warehouse or with the help of a 3PL provider like byrd. When Amazon Seller Fulfilled Prime requirements are met, the SFP program can also help online merchants' listings gain visibility by displaying the Prime badge. byrd does not currently offer a solution for Amazon SFP.

Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA)

Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) is when a merchant ships its products directly to Amazon warehouses across the country for fulfillment. FBA products can sell quicker, but it’s the most expensive order fulfillment option. Different fees such as long-term storage fees, warehousing fees, and fulfillment fees add up quickly for FBA sellers. Merchants lose control over the process and are not allowed to use their own packaging or documentation, as FBA packages are shipped in Amazon boxes, appearing that they are sold by Amazon.
